Introduction

India’s system of government-funded schools known as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) offers rural children a high standard of education. The schools are run by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, a separate body of the Indian government’s Ministry of Education. It’s extremely difficult to get into JNVs; thousands of students apply each year. This article will review the procedures for entering Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Eligibility criteria for admission in Navodaya Vidyalaya

Students should know the JNVST Class 6 eligibility requirements, and they should confirm that they are being met. Any applicant found by NVS to be ineligible for JNVST admission to Class 6 in 2023 will have their application denied.

  1. A selection test created and administered by NVS is the basis for admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
  2. Admission applications are only accepted from residents of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located. However, the old district boundaries are considered for eligibility for admission to the JNV in the district where the JNV is opened and is later divided. This applies to situations where the new Vidyalaya has not been established in the recently divided district.
  3. In one district, students from rural areas will fill 75% of the seats, with the remaining seats being filled by students from the district’s urban areas.
  4. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has a reservation policy for SC-ST students, but it is within the national average.
  5. All interested applicants must be between the ages of 9 and 13 in order to be considered for admission.
  6. Students can submit an application for Navodaya Class 6 admission at the official website of JNVST admission.
  7. To be eligible to apply for class six admission to Navodaya Vidyalaya, the applicant must be enrolled in Class 5 in a recognised school during that academic year.
  8. A student who applies for Navodaya admission in Class 6 under the rural quota must have attended a recognised school in Classes 3 through 5.

All candidates, including those from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) (OBC), would be impacted. The case may be sent to the Medical Board for confirmation if there is a discrepancy between the age reported on the certificate and the actual age. The decision of the medical board shall be final.
  • The age range for applicants must be between 9 and 13 years old. Candidates from all categories, including those who are members of the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), are subject to this.
  • When applying for admission under the rural quota, a candidate must have completed classes III, IV, and V at an organised government or private school.

These reservations are interchangeable and superior to those tentatively chosen individuals based on open merit.
  3. Over and above the reservation for SCs and STs, 27% of the seats will be reserved for OBC students according to a central list. The Central List will be used to occasionally implement the reservations for OBC students as necessary. Candidates from OBC who were left off the Central List would apply as General Candidates.
  4. At least one-third of the seats are occupied by women. Where necessary, girls may be preferred over boys per the NVS selection criteria to ensure that a third of the candidates are female.
  5. According to the NVS selection criteria, rural-open seats are distributed block by block based on the rural population of the relevant block.
  6. According to GOI regulations, there is a provision for reservation for ** Divyang children (i.e., physically challenged, hearing-impaired, and visually impaired).
